Starting January 1, 2018, anyone 24 years old or younger will be able to get their prescription medications for free. Coverage will be automatic, with no upfront costs. To learn more about the new OHIP+ coverage see the fact sheet below.

The Learning Co-op is offering a new workshop to help women 40 and over increase their essential skills and build their employability skills. The workshop is designed to help learners gain a clearer understanding of the job she wants and how she can get it, given her skills, interests, and life situation.

SJSH Supporting Local Food Bank

SJSH Supporting Local Food Bank

St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (SJSH) will be holding its annual Fall Food Drive on Thursday, September 21st from 5pm until 8pm. SJSH students will be going door to door to collect food in support of the North Bay Food Bank. Students will be canvassing West Ferris between Judge Ave. and the water treatment facility; the downtown core from the overpass to High St.; from Oak St. to the bypass; and the section along Trout Lake Road from the bypass to Connaught (including Kingsway, Alexander, Laurentian, and McKay).

St. Luke Student Secures Spot In Canadian History Youth Forum

Congratulations to St. Luke student, Alexandra Dech, who is headed to Ottawa to represent Ontario in Canada's History Youth Forum this October. Alexandra secured her spot after competing in the National Young Citizen’s Filmmaker Challenge last June. Thank you to everyone who watched, voted and helped spread the word about Alexandra's video. Looking forward to hearing more about this fantastic opportunity!

Learning Co-op Celebrates International Literacy Day

Students in the Learning Co-op program at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board celebrated International Literacy Day through a series of engaging activities and group work, focused on this year’s theme: Living in a Digital World. International Literacy Day is an initiative developed by the United Nations to highlight the importance of literacy and to help raise awareness about modern challenges facing literacy education.

Summer Registration Information

Elementary schools are now closed for the summer months. If you require assistance regarding your child's transportation, registration or for new registrations, please contact the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board's summer registration office at 705-494-3888. Elementary school offices will be reopening August 28, 2017.

St. Joseph-Scollard Hall will remain open through the summer months. All transportation and registration questions can be directed to student services at 705-494-8600 ext 3234.

NPSC Approves 2017-2018 Budget

At its regular meeting held June 27, 2017, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) approved its 2017-2018 budget for submission to the Ministry of Education. The budget focuses on programs and services that directly benefit students and is compliant with Ministry of Education balanced budget legislation. National Aboriginal Day

National Aboriginal Day

To recognize National Aboriginal Day, our friends at Mother St. Bride joined the North Bay Indian Friendship Centre for a day of learning and sharing. Classes from Our Lady of Sorrows visited Nbisiing secondary school to take part in interactive activities and collaborative group work. To celebrate National Aboriginal Day during the month of June, approximately 100 Grade 6 students also visited Nbisiing Secondary School this past month as part of an annual retreat to share in a day of workshops and a group pow wow.
