SJSH Students Heading to Nationals

We are pleased to announce St. Joseph-Scollard Hall will be sending four students (two groups) to the National Science Fair Competition this May. In total, six groups participated in the regional science fair, with several participants receiving special awards of recognition. Insights and Sounds April 25

St. Joseph-Scollard Hall annual "Insights and Sounds" will be held Wednesday, April 25. The event will feature a visual art gallery viewing at 6 p.m., and a lineup of performances in music, dance, video production, and drama at 6:30 p.m. in the Bishop Carter Auditorium.

Tickets are $5 at the door.

NPSC Choir Festival - May 17

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is pleased to host our Annual Outdoor Choir Festival, May 17, 2018. Schools from across the district will gather at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall to take part in the event, sharing in a morning of song and music. Special thank you to Kiss 100.5 who will MC our event again this year.

Bears Drama Take Home Award of Excellence

Bears Drama Take Home Award of Excellence

Congratulations to the Cast of "Deliver Us Not!" who won an award of excellence for ensemble work and outstanding production at the National Theatre School Drama Festival. The group will be performing April 19-21 at the regional festival.

Bridge Building Competition

Bridge Building Competition

NPSC elementary and secondary students participated in the 13th Annual Bridge Building Contest hosted by the North Bay Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, as part of the National Engineering Month initiatives across Canada. Congratulations to all students who participated in the bridge making activity. Special congratulations to Connor Russo who finished 3rd with a load ratio of 222:1. Leah Davis and Stephanie Wu finished 2nd with a load ratio of 286:1 and Matt McParland who was the overall winner with a load ratio of 550:1!

The theme this year will be Opening Doors with a keynote address by Leslie Andrews.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is thrilled to extend a huge congratulations to Erica Marut, Sophie Young-Davis, Emily Hyatt and Samantha McKinley for their special recognition at the 31st Annual Evening of Applause. Congratulations also to John Folz and Jorja Harper for their excellent work and recognition in the poster contest.

Communicating with the Teenage Brain

SJSH Parent Council hosted a free information session in March entitled "Communicating with the Teenage Brain".  NPSC Mental Health Lead, Trish Tessier, presented the keynote which discussed the development of the teenage brain, understanding what stress behaviours look like and the impact of texting and social media. Congrats to the SJSH Parent Council for hosting this fantastic information session!

Elizabeth Fava Top Fundraiser in Polar Plunge 2018

Congratulations to Educational Assistant, Elizabeth Fava, who raised $4014.90 for Special Olympics in North Bay! Elizabeth was the top fundraiser in the Polar Plunge for the second year running. We are so proud! Way to go Elizabeth!

NPSC Student Summit a Huge Success

NPSC students and staff gathered at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall for the third annual Student Summit, focusing on collaboration, creativity, and technology-enabled learning. Attendees were treated to a keynote presentation from Derek Tangredi, director of Integrated Science Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics Education at Fair Chance Learning and SJSH student David Moore. Special thank you to all of our teachers and workshop facilitators for sharing your knowledge and leading us in this excellent day of learning!
