More About Our School

Corpus Christi School is a community oriented school and as such the staff and students get to know each other very well. We are particularly proud of our "Student of the Week" gatherings. During these assemblies the entire school gathers in the gymnasium for the presentation of Student of the Week Awards. These assemblies allow us as a school community to recognize students for their efforts and celebrate their successes.

We also recognize our students annually during our awards assembly when the following awards are presented:

  • Christian Spirit
  • Top Academic
  • Most Improved
  • Male and Female Athlete of the Year
  • Citizenship

Catholic School Advisory Council

School councils were established in 1996 by the Government of Ontario, as advisory bodies able to make recommendations to their principals or school board on any matter. Membership in the school council is as follows, the school principal, a teachers representative, a non-teaching staff representative, a representative from the community; a Catholic church representative; and six parents or guardians from the school community. Each are elected annually for a one-year term.

Our current council has established technology as a focus for this school year.  We have purchased an additional SMART board for all students and staff to use in the library.

There are always areas of the school you can volunteer to help with: the Library, the snack program, different fundraising activities, field trips, etc. The rewards are immeasurable by getting involved in your school community.

How We Live Our Catholic Faith

Our Belief

The Corpus Christi Catholic School Community believes that a Catholic school is one in which the teaching of Jesus Christ permeates all aspects of the school day. As often stated by members of our school community our goal is to be "Jesus people."

Many opportunities are evident in daily school life for our community to pray and demonstrate their Catholic Faith. Here are some examples:

  • School wide and Classroom Celebrations
  • Liturgical Celebrations (linked to the Born of the Spirit Series)
  • Weekly (whole school) students of the week assemblies

Our Partners in Faith

Fr. Peter is invited to the school to share in liturgies and celebrations. Through the year students are presented with opportunities to participate in liturgy at St. Peter's Church. At Corpus Christi School our goal is to continuously enhance our already effective partnership among parish, school and home.

Our CSAC Parish Representatives serves as the liaison between our School and our Parish. This year our grade 5/6 class visits Cassellholme for the Aged once a month for games and other activities with the elderly.

Demonstrating our Faith

During the school year our School Community supports a number of very worthwhile endeavors including:

  • Advent Projects (fund raising for a refugee camp in Thailand)
  • Lenten Projects (fund raising for a refugee camp in Thailand)
  • Food Collections for the Corpus Christi Food Bank
  • Jump Rope for Heart Fund raising
