St. Francis Catholic School was established as our Board's second French Immersion centre in September,1988 with an opening enrolment of 119 Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. Given its unique character and size in the initial year, it was deemed opportune by both administration and staff to formulate a philosophical perspective for the school. This framework would hence identify our school's fundamental mandate, aspirations and goals. Our mission statement, therefore, serves as a common reference and guide that will assure continued commitment to: meaningful learning, excellence in instruction and professional growth.

Community Relations
As an integral part of the larger community, St. Francis Catholic School has many community partners. With funding from our P.T.A., the North Bay Police implement the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program in the Grade 6 curriculum. The services and support of Infant Development, One Kids Place, HANDS, Community Care Access Centre and the Children's Aid Society are available to us as needed.
Catholic School Advisory Council
The St. Francis Catholic School Council functions in an advisory capacity. During their monthly meetings, the council members provide input and suggestions, on a variety of issues, to the school principal and, on occasion, to the Board. Representing a parent's perspective, it can, together with the school administration undertake initiatives that reflect the needs, focus and interest of the school community.

How We Live Our Catholic Faith
As a Catholic school community, our faith at St. Francis Catholic School is mirrored in a variety of activities that range from morning reflective readings during opening announcements to school-wide or classroom-based liturgies which are enhanced through active student and staff participation. A student choir leads us in song for major Eucharistic celebrations. Parents and family members are invited and are welcome to join us for worship and prayer. We enjoy a strong partnership with Holy Name of Jesus Church with Father Ken Gauthier and with Monsigneur Norm Clement our Board Chaplain.
The core Christian values of care, concern and respect are the cornerstones of spiritual development and growth within our school. The outward demonstration of these values is underscored by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that greets all who enter our school. Outward demonstrations of our involvement beyond our school community include food collections, fund-raising for L.I.P.I., the Santa Fund and Peace and Development.
Our aspiration is that through prayer, direction, instruction and demonstration, the students of St. Francis Catholic School will grow into a way of living that is in keeping with the gospel teachings of Jesus Christ.
